What is Remote Backup?

Technology Partners offers a way to backup your data automatically over your Internet connection every night. The solution we use ensures that your data is encrypted first. And only you can restore the data. This service is known as techSafe.

For a monthly fee based on the size of the data to be protected, you don’t have to worry if someone is changing the tapes. In fact, most businesses never remove the tapes from the office—so techSafe Remote Backup survives disasters such as fires, theft, and hurricanes.

Restoring a file is very simple using our techSafe client software and gives you the choice of which version from which day to restore—just like a tape– but without having to hunt for the tape.

In Case of Disaster

Restoring small sets of data is quick and easy. However, in case of a total disaster where all your data is
destroyed—here is what happens.

Once the old server is fixed or a new server is setup, we reinstall the techSafe client software. Using the special encryption code (you will have a printed copy for your safe), we tell the software to perform a disaster recovery. This restores all the backup settings and allows a full restore of your data.

What are the Costs?

Should I get rid of my Tape Drive?

You have already an investment in your tape drive backup system. Remote Backup can be used as a secondary backup. A fail-safe. In case you can’t restore from tape or the tape system fails, you would have another restore option. In fact, you may find it easier to use Remote Backup—so the tape system may become your secondary backup instead.

Since the cost for techSafe depends on the size of the data to be backed up, we recommend only backing up essential data, SQL databases and Exchange email (if using an Exchange server).
